BADM 180 – Other Concentrations Week
The College of Business Administration offer a ton of concentrations, compared to most other small schools. In addition, we offer a lot of minors in these areas as well. So you can get a very specialized degree here or you can get a more general degree and add a minor to widen your skill set even further. Here is a list of other concentrations that exist, in addition to the functional areas:
Computer Information Systems Digital Information Design (i.e., Web Design)
Economics Entrepreneurship
Healthcare Management Human Resource Management
International Business
For this week, you will pick two of the concentrations listed above.
Go online and do you own research for one of two of the concentrations you have selected.
Questions:
1. What would someone do in that particular career field?
2. How many jobs are there in Charlotte, NC in that particular field?
3. What is the typical pay for a person in that field?
4. What kind of education/certifications do you need to be in that field?
5. Provide an example of a typical activity/output a person would be responsible for in that field.
Type up your answers to the questions (be sure to edit them for writing quality) and bring them to class.
Go online and do you own research for the other of the concentrations you have selected.
Difference between APA 6TH edition and APA 7th edition
APA (American Psychological Association) is a citation and referencing style used in social sciences. The two most recent versions of APA style are the 6th and 7th editions, which have some significant differences.
APA 6th Edition:
The 6th edition of APA was published in 2009 and it provides guidelines for writing research papers and essays.
In-text citations in this edition were required to include the author’s last name, the year of publication and page number.
The reference list in APA 6th edition should be double-spaced and include the publication date for each source.
Example of an in-text citation in APA 6th edition: (Smith, 2009, p.5)
APA 7th Edition:
The 7th edition of APA was published in October 2019.
It includes updates to formatting, referencing, and language use. The major change in the 7th edition is the removal of the requirement for including the retrieval date for electronic sources.
Additionally, the 7th edition has a new format for citing online sources. Example of an in-text citation in APA 7th edition:
(Smith, 2009)
Overall, the 7th edition of APA provides a more streamlined and simplified approach to referencing, making it easier for students and researchers to follow.
